Managing Children and Young People's Behaviour Course  

We were delighted to be awarded a community grant from the Tang Hall Big Local, to run our Managing Children and Young People's Behaviour Course with parents of children at Tang Hall Primary School. 

The course took place over three weeks, one morning per week, to develop attendees skills, knowledge and confidence in relation to working with working or volunteering with children and young people. The sessions focused on the subject of managing challenging behaviour in children and young people, and provided practical strategies for encouraging positive behaviour and managing challenging behaviour. There was also a focus on employability and transferable skills, and an opportunity for invited guests (Higher York, City of York Council Volunteering Service and Workers Educational Association) to share information about opportunities and next steps.

Attendees were presented with a certificate of attendance by Tang Hall Big Local Partnership Board Member, Jane Lewis.

Course tutor, Katie Simpson said "The group visibly grew in confidence over the weeks and were happy to share ideas and strategies. New networks and friendships were formed and there was a clear sense that those attending felt ready for the next step in developing their skills related to working with children and young people. Indeed, six of the participants have progressed onto our more detailed Essential Skills for Working with Children and Young People Course, to be held in October at Tang Hall Primary School."
